ciao, come potete vedere dai link qua sopra, mi sembra di aver trovato l'anello mancante che sembra invece essere presente nei progetti meglio riusciti di noti costruttori:
il caricamento a tromba frontale dei bassi unito ad un caricamento posteriore tipo onken o reflex o altro.

mi sembra molto interessante che nonostante il woofer parta solitamente dai 270 hz in giù nel caso di un abbinamento con tromba+lowther,
gli abbiano comunque aggiunto una tromba frontale che massimo massimo arriverà a 150 hz,solo per avere una migliore fusione nell'incrocio dei due altoparlanti...

ci sarebbe da riflettere un po', non dvorebbe essere difficile aggiungere una trombetta al mio 414, e magari aumentare il volume del mobile fino ad arrivare ad avere lo stesso consigliato nel mini onken..
questo e' il frutto delle mie elugubrazioni notturne..


tutto cio' per avere un sistema di bassi che non ti veda costretto ad aggiungere un ulteriore subwoofer (tipo tapped horn volvotreter) .
d'altronde io sono d'accordissimo con www.vt52 che l'onken non convinca accanto ad una tromba con i lowther, e anche per quanto riguarda i driver a compressione concordo pienamente

per curiosità quanto pensi possa scendere anche abbinando la tromba frontale con il volume posteriore reflex,e poi come si raccorderebbero i due rinforzi tromba+condotto reflex?se tromba dev'essere tromba sia ma con la configurazione più adottata camera posteriore dietro e tromba davanti klipschorn o propio al limite come dici tu la scala il 414 cè l'hai,io per adesso stò provando a giocare con questa

Lowther drivers were originally designed for front loaded horns and therefore they do sound best when they are actually loaded with a front horn balancing the frequency response. A horn with the La Cleach curve is doing okay and I think it can also be used to combine with a horn loaded bass system for optimal integration.

Not just the square horns shown there but also the modified Oris 150's on the Ultra system and also the Swing system uses this principle with success.

This basic idea works best having almost identical radiating sources in the crossover range but to find the proper horn length and throat size has to be done experimentally. I can't help you with that (no formula's you could use) or simulators which combine a front horn with a reflex bass system...

The only way to make it work and to learn what type of crossover you'll need is to experiment and measure the frequency response. Changing drivers makes it already needed to change the size of the throat for a smooth transition between horn and reflex...

If you cannot measure and see what you are doing then it is impossible to predict what is going on.

It would be very helpful to close the rear sound of the Lowther because now you have a phase problem making it basically impossible to integrate the lowther acceptable with any bass system.

certo che essere consigliati e aiutati dal padre di uno dei diffusori a tromba più moderni e più venduti attualmente non è da tutti i giorni,per quanto riguarda il mio disegno luca è una variante del classico khorn che mi ronzava in testa da un pò di tempo,più semplice da costruire (forse!!)ma sopratutto è l'idea alla base del khorn che mi ha sempre convinto sfruttare il quarto di spazio per ridurre le dimensioni di bocca a parità di fc con le pareti laterali che prolungano la tromba,altro grande vantaggio rispetto alle trombe più classiche l'eliminazione delle prime riflessioni essendo le pareti laterali il prolungamento appunto.il disegno che vedi è uno schizzo,un'idea l'esemplare in foto l'ho calcolato dal sito di john meluish single driver con il calcolatore per profilo iperbolico/esponenziale,ho impostato una fc di 40hz una lunghezza di 178cm un'area di gola di 360cmq,l'idea è quella di giocarci ossia di sperimentare una volta costruita non potrà più uscire dalla cantina per ovvie ragioni di ingombro,la porta della cantina è più stretta della tromba.il coperchio sopra sarà amovibile per poter provare vari tipi di woofer,i quali saranno montati sul loro pannello distanziatore che sarà montato in asse con la gola,si possono montare woofer da 8" fino a 18" e cosa più importante si può variare il volume posteriore per ogni singolo woofer in modo di annullare la reattanza acustica presentata dalla gola,e ottimizzare il sistema alle basse frequenze.io non ho l'altec414 ma sarebbe interessante provarlo una volta montata la tromba,anche se l'idea è quella di provare woofer moderni che riescono a gestire potenze molto alte e quindi alti spl.
